They belong to different parties naam ke vaste, but that is is. Now when it comes to vote, there may not be much difference if you vote Aaya Ram or Gaya Rama, but consider this, say Aya Ram is the sitting candidate, he may not have done much, but when he knows that after 5 years, people will vote and throw him out, he might just be forced to do some work. Yeah ur just substituting Aya Ram with Gaya Ram, but end of day, both candidates can't take their place for granted.

Now instead of Aya Ram and Gaya Ram, say there is a 3rd candidate in the fray Mr.X, who has had a good record, is believed to be clean, maybe a first timer, not belonging to any party. So here again by voting you have the choice to elect Mr.X as the candidate of your choice.

Now if you don't turn up to vote, chances are that Aya Ram( or Gaya Ram), whoever is the sitting MLA, just begins to feel complacent, the feeling would be "Why should I do work, anyway ppl won't vote will not make much difference?". What is even worse, is non voting will hurt the genuine Mr.X, a person who needs every single vote he/she can, unlike Aaya Ram or Gaya Ram, they don't have a community that will vote en bloc for them, irrespective of what they do.

-- RatnakarRatnakar Sadasyulahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01500940093879831732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078978919723737706.post-80541476283805017542011-07-30T02:08:11.457+05:302011-07-30T02:08:11.457+05:30"When every one gives vote the vigil increase..."When every one gives vote the vigil increases...hence he has to give back to society by way of development work to get *re-elected*" (emphasis mine).

Elections involve huge expenses (irrespective of whether those voting could be bribed or otherwise), hence, a person who'd have spent crores into simply getting elected, would first prioritize recovering that money and making sufficient profits so as to 'justify' his getting elected, and then think of getting re-elected. If he would have to sacrifice all the money 'invested' in election, what good would be getting re-elected? Seriously, who wants to enter politics without being able to recover the money they put in? This is where I find the analysis flawed - re-election is just an added extra bonus, the real thing is the money one can siphon off *while* one is enjoying one's elected tenure.Ketanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02622410643454108685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078978919723737706.post-36547552348501100822011-04-15T23:28:10.184+05:302011-04-15T23:28:10.184+05:30well the problem is that when over years u see fai...well the problem is that when over years u see failure after failure in the form of your politicians you are bound to loose faith in the system. but i feel with india the problem is more than just the corrupt politician. i think we are a genetically corrupt nation. until we dun ask ourselves some serious questions on a moral and ethical level this country and its attitude wun change. the corrupt politician isnt there when be break the traffic signal. we shud first clean ourselves and when we r clean then we can come together and fight a larger cause.
but yes voting i feel at times shudnt be a right it shud be a duty and u shud be forced to vote like they do in australia.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078978919723737706.post-75403607347922622762011-04-11T23:27:50.321+05:302011-04-11T23:27:50.321+05:30@harini : Thank U Ma'am@harini : Thank U Ma'amRising Gladiatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06960414887887382274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7078978919723737706.post-67492381079790776512011-04-11T23:18:53.421+05:302011-04-11T23:18:53.421+05:30well written ...
